Then, several months ago, Zeena went through a traumatic time in her life. Her ex-husband shot her and left her to die. He then went out to his car, and killed himself. Meanwhile, Zeena was left there bleeding. She felt that God was telling her to go out on the street, even though it was very cold and snowing outside. She received this amazing strength to be able to crawl down the stairs. She reached the door, and fell onto the sidewalk, still bleeding. Pastor Steve from Holy Cross Lutheran Church found her on the street, as she lives across from the church. Pastor Steve called 911 and they took her to the hospital. Zeena went through several surgeries. She has needed a long time to recover.
Zeena was able to stay with her daughter, Anna, who helped take care of her. Since then, we have had a strong relationship with Zeena and especially with Anna. Anna became an ESL student at the POBLO International Friendship Center. Also, we are helping this family with food and transportation. Anna is very involved in the ministry at Holy Cross Lutheran Church. She even helped with VBS at the church this summer.
Zeena was given a Persian Bible from Pastor Wessel. She is reading it, and she comes back to me with questions. Recently, Mariam my wife, Cindy Wessel from Holy Cross and I visited them. We spent four hours with the family. We talked about Christianity, the crucifixion, Trinity, and the Bible vs. the Quran. We used a Persian app to help her understand some of the English words that were difficult for her. Anna had many questions. We were able to answer them, explaining the crucifixion and the purpose of God coming into human flesh to die for our sin. At the end, we spent time in prayer with them.
Please for this family, and for the Holy Spirit to open their eyes as they read the Scripture.
