More and more churches are asking POBLO Ministries to conduct cross-cultural awareness workshops. Many see the growing ethnic diversity around them, but feel they need a clearer vision, and wonder how their church can begin cross cultural outreach. POBLO missionaries and ambassadors are addressing the need nationwide. It’s a relevant question because of the changing demographics in the the communities where churches are located. Churches call POBLO Ministries when they see a mosque being constructed close by, or when they recognize that there are veiled women visible in their shopping malls. Recently, I was in Fargo, and there I saw growing Somali and Nepalese communities. I also learned that in Waterloo, IA, there are eleven different ethnicities represented in the public schools, the largest number of immigrants there being Bosnians. There is also a Yemeni refugee population in Coldwater, Michigan. You can find the most ethnically diverse populations in the least likely places!
