He said that in Saudi Arabia, if you deny that Jesus Christ was among one of the greatest prophets, they will bring Islamic scholars to teach you about who Jesus Christ is. If you continue resisting to accept Jesus according to the Islamic definition, they will behead you. He also said that according to Islamic scholars, the issue between Muslims and Christians lies in how Christians define and teach about Jesus.
In response, I told him that I let the Bible define who Jesus is rather than my personal subjective view. I explained to him that, in my opinion, the problem is that Muslim scholars do not go to the Word of God to understand Jesus, but rather rely on man’s opinion to explain the truth. I shared these Bible verses (John 6:44-50, 53) with Muhammad to explain who Jesus is, according to Jesus Himself:
“No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him. And I will raise him up on the last day. It is written in the Prophets, ‘And they will all be taught by God. ’Everyone who has heard and learned from the Father comes to me—not that anyone has seen the Father except he who is from God; he has seen the Father. Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever believes has eternal life. I am the bread of life. Your fathers ate the manna in the wilderness, and they died. This is the bread that comes down from heaven, so that one may eat of it and not die…Very truly I tell you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you.”
Drawing from these verses, I explained that according to the Word of God, without Jesus Christ, there is no salvation, resurrection, or eternal life.
Even though customers were interrupting our conversation, he continued to ask questions after he had served them. He told me he was grateful that I had shared this with him and asked to meet with me again so that he can learn more about who Jesus really is and what He has done for mankind. Please pray that Muhammad will step away from a religion based on man’s opinion and works and come to know the truth of what Jesus did at Calvary.
