The message of victory and celebration in the face of death is uniquely Christian. Muslims face death with great dread. I once attended a Muslim funeral. Everyone wore black. Everyone cried for the loved one as if they would never see him again. In the Muslim faith, there is nothing comparable to Christ’s victory over sin, death and Satan. The resurrection of Christ is truly unique. Now imagine you are learning this great truth for the first time. Imagine, that as a Muslim, you were taught to believe that 1) Jesus was never crucified for our sins—instead, God took Him off the cross and into heaven 2) It was Judas Iscariot who actually died on the cross—God changed his face to look like Jesus’ face 3) Christ also never rose from the dead in victory. Now imagine you come to embrace the resurrection of Christ as His once-and-for all victory over sin, death, and Satan. What a glorious comfort! What joy!
This year, a number of former Muslims who came to faith in Christ in 2016 through this ministry will celebrate their very first Easter. I can only imagine what it will mean for them. They will sing, “I know that my Redeemer lives.” What a glorious truth to cling too! This year, please pray for these new brothers and sisters in Christ, who once were Muslim, but now rejoice that Jesus is their ever Living Savior.
