A note from our non-profit organization:

Dear POBLO Family,

Greetings in the name of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns with the Father and the Holy Spirit one God now and forever!

Today, I am sharing a personal story. My ancestors confessed their faith in Christ when they converted from Islam, which blessed me to be born and raised in a Christian home. Dr. Mehdi Khan, my late grandfather, received the gift of faith from our Lord. After hearing the Gospel message, he confessed his faith in Christ. Though born in a very affluent home in India, he left the life for a life of servitude.

In the early 1930’s, Dr. Mehdi Khan, became one of the largest Christian farmers in Pakistan. One morning, he asked his manager to come and open their safe. This era did not have any modern day concepts of a banking system. Both Dr. Mehdi Khan and the manager kept a key to the safe. In order for unlock the safe, both keys were required. Dr. Mehdi Khan asked the manager to take out $25,000.

Dr. Mehdi khan instructed the manager to prepare the horse and carriage as both men are to venture on a journey. The manager become worried that they might get looted before they reach their destination.

However, Dr. Mehdi Khan did not flinch with worry for a second. The journey to this undisclosed destination, took five to six days from their countryside home. In the town, they hired another horse and carriage to reach their destination.

When the manager inquired details regarding the destination. Dr. Mehdi Khan stated, “We have to go a place where there were four walls and a door and has no roof.”

The manager was perplexed as this riddle of a destination. As their carriage was passing through the town, they saw a few hundreds of believer seated on the ground praying.

The crowd observed fasting and their prayer was, “Lord we have bought the land and built the foundations and the walls but have no money to build the roof. Please provide for us, as it is monsoon season and we need a roof over our heads.”

When they had finished the prayer, Dr. Mehdi Khan jumped out of the carriage and walked toward the crowd.

He took the money out of his bag and stated, “Here is the money to help with what you were asking in your prayer.”

The crowd was in awe of the Lord’s faithfulness. They wanted to know more about this stranger who came to them with the money however he refused to share any information.

He left saying, God showed me your need in my dream, thank the Lord.”

Moving forward, in 2003, I received news from my attorney that my R-1 visa extension was over and was unable to receive another extension. I had two choices in front of me. The first was to return back to Canada. The second to file for my change of status/green card without delay.

However, in order to do so, I needed $7,500.00 to cover the fees for my entire family. After pulling all every possible string, I arranged five thousand dollars.

Realizing my limited resources, I decided I had no other choice than to submit my case or exit the country by Monday.

On Sunday, day before the much dreaded Monday, we went to our All Nations Lutheran church [planted by POBLO International Ministries].

As we were walking out after the service, I received a phone call from by a lady named Karen Kalambeck.

I answered the phone and she asked me, “Farrukh, are you in some kind of need?” She then began to share that a clinically blind prayer warrior named Norm, in their church, received a vision in a dream about you.

He is in our church office and would like to meet him.

I left church and drove to them. When I reached there, Norm Kranshaw and Karen welcomed my family and I.

Norm joyfully stated, “I am blessed by the Lord, I have signed a blank check, write any amount you want.”

I humbly stated, “Sir, my need is for $2,500 for my visa.”

At that time, Norm reminded me of my great grandfather Dr. Mehdi Khan. I thanked the Lord first and then Norm. Today, by His grace, I am a citizen of The United States and proud to serve Him through POBLO International Ministries.

The faithful always witness the return of their investment in Him and the church. My grandfather had plentiful and he invested and years later his own grandson reaped what he, Dr. Mehdi Khan, has sowed. The Lord remembers and He always provides.
Norm now has joined the celebrations in heaven, along with Dr. Mehdi Khan. Dr. Mehdi Khan’s legacy is that his three grandsons’ are walking in faith as LCMS pastors.

In Matthew 25:40, Jesus shares the parable of the king: “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.”

Dear brothers and sisters in Christ, invest in the Lord, bring joyful and whole tithes to him, support the proclamation of the Gospel and He will open the floodgates of heaven and pour out His rich & mighty blessings. He never forgets!

God may richly, bless you and use you. Amen.
